Instead of going on some crazy diet/exercise regimen, stick to the basics. Try to eat smaller portions at meals and don't snack on junk food. Don't avoid carbs, they are important to your diet, so get a balance of everything: protein, carbohydrates, vegetables, fruits, dairy, etc. Start a sport instead of going to the gym. If you don't feel comfortable playing traditional team sports like basketball, you could try an individual sport like kickboxing or horseback riding.
Before trying to lose weight, make sure you are actually overweight first. Go to your doctor and ask him/her about your Body Mass Index (BMI) and if you fall into the overweight category. If he/she says that you aren't overweight, losing weight is not going to be beneficial because you are probably at your natural weight. It's okay to have curves!

Ok.... firstly, how overweight are you? You shouldn't tone DOWN if you are fat! You must first lose fat. How do you do this? You must regulate what you put inside your body via your mouth. This takes a lot of discipline!!!
I'm serious and I'm telling you now that if you stick with what I'm about to tell you, you will gradually lose weight.... all these fast weight-loss supplements are BS since you may lose weight, but it'll yo-yo right back on!
So, you must join the gym... 3 times a week will do you good. I suggest 20-30 minutes on the elliptical or treadmill and like 30 minutes toning by doing crunches, core muscle workouts - which is upper thighs, abs, hips, love-hands.
As for food, stick to a 3-meals-a-day plan. Eat hearty meals so you don't get hungry in between. But if you're really hungry munch on fresh fruit and veggies.
Always drink water!!!! At least 8 cups + more at the gym!
Stay away from all carbs - rice, bread, pasta, pizza....
If you do this stuff... I can assure you will tone down, not UP as cclaira_xx corrected!

there are lots of ways to lose weight...but at your age unless you are drastically obese you should not try to lose it..some diets suggest to max out on proteins..that is a temporary measure because otherwise you could send your body into ketosis..not good..the best diets suggest a balance of nutrients but do cut back on your fat intake..especially those dangerous fats..you still need a certain amount of healthy fats and carbohydrates or you could end up with heart problems..concentrate mostly having white meats, vetetables and fruits, plenty of water and you won't have to exercise much to burn off the calories..and you can eat as much as you like but as long as it is before 7p.m at night because that is when your metabolism slows down.
Do not eat out of boredom or or comfort but only when genuinely hungry or even every 3 hours so that your blood sugar levels never drop too low

Im (14 years old, and im a girl) trying to lose a little weight a tone up (my parents told me to do this) and I agree that I need too, except there not helping me and im not sure what to eat and how much to eat..I know I have to excercise everyday and...
