there are, but not like hollywood would like us to see them. There are famous ones out there like Michelle Bellinger and the Vampire Don. Though there is no concrete proof that there are sanguine vampires (people that get energy from drinking blood) though many claim this is so...there is evidence that psi-vampies (those that can manipulate and absorb energy) do exist and are infact very real. It's an open matter.
Myself, I enjoy the Anne Rice novels, and remember praying that Lestat would be real in my teenage reals (it was all so dramatic, so romantic lol) it's obvious that there is no such thing! I give utmost respect to the Vampire Don, on the other hand. Many belive that Criss Angel also is somewhat of a master at energy manipulation and has telepathic abilities though his tricks do function on a lot of illusion he does have psi abilities.
reasearch it. It's rather interesting.
Commonly named as Porphyric Hemophilia (Aka Vampirism)
Vampirism is portrayed as so many things. Such as a cult, or even a disorder. Or in the Hollywood movies (Which is entirely not true).
Information taken from: Wikipedia
People sometimes suspected vampirism when a cadaver did not look as they thought a normal corpse should when disinterred. However, rates of decomposition vary depending on temperature and soil composition, and many of the signs are little known. This has led vampire hunters to mistakenly conclude that a dead body had not decomposed at all, or, ironically, to interpret signs of decomposition as signs of continued life. Corpses swell as gases from decomposition accumulate in the torso and the increased pressure forces blood to ooze from the nose and mouth.
Back in older dates they suspected pre-mature burial(Buried alive) was a cause of Vampires, which was not true: Witnesses used to hear sounds coming from a coffin, when the coffin was opened there was nail scratches along the coffin, this was reason of the person buried alive trying to escape.
Information taken from: Wikipedia.
In 1985 biochemist David Dolphin proposed a link between the rare blood disorder porphyria and vampire folklore. Noting that the condition is treated by intravenous haem, he suggested that the consumption of large amounts of blood may result in haem being transported somehow across the stomach wall and into the bloodstream. Thus vampires were merely sufferers of porphyria seeking to replace haem and alleviate their symptoms.
hope this bit of info helps.
