What's the valve timing on a briggs stratton engine?

when piston is dtc should exhaust valve start opening on a 12 hp briggs stratton engine

Hi,

Turn the assembled crank/piston until the piston is at Top Dead Center and locate the timing mark on the crankshaft gear. Now install the camshaft so that the mark on its drive gear lines up with the mark on the crank gear. Thats pretty much it.
