you are letting this little dog be the pack leader. I have two chihuahua's and yes they are a hand full. however they now I am in charge. I will correct them when they are being bad and I will reward them when they are doing what I ask of them. it takes a lot of time and repetiion to break them of there old habbits. I also take them to doggie parks and Petco to make sure they are use to new sounds and sites. This breed needs to be Socialized a lot or you will have a demon on your hands. I do recommend Ceaser Milan books or watching him on tv.
But you must let this dog know that you are in charge.
chiuahuas are fiesty little dogs.
often the case is because they become attached to a certain individual or small group, anyone else who they come across they may be very wary of. they are protective over their owner, anyone else they will be fiesty towards. This is the normal situation, situations may however differ from dog to dog.

To start opening up the social part of his brain...and it really is like creating a path in his head...instead of introducing him with a nose to nose type meet and greet...put him on a leash, put the other dog on a leash, and take them for a walk together...Don't let him stop to bark at the other dog, no stopping to pee or sniff the bushes...this is a migratory walk (the kind wolves do to find a new feeding ground)...start them out with him on one side of you, and the other dog on the other side of your friend...then as move along, make it so only one person is between them. A couple of these walks later, make it so the dogs are walking beside each other...Try this with your friends Border Collie first (having a friend help you to socialize your dog is far easier than trying to socialize him with a strange dog)...remember you're creating a path in his brain...so it takes time.

Unsociable chihuahua
My Chihuahua is really unsociable. He constantly barks at other dogs and chases them down the street. When we try to introduce him to our friends border collie he attempted to bite his face. When we introduced him to a female dog he annoyed her,...
constantly jumping at her and biting her heels. How do we teach him to be more sociable, since all he does is bark and bark when he is around other dogs.
