touch the screen and move the slider to unlock the ipod.

if it is frozen, hold the hold top button down and the menu circle down until it restarts.

if that doesn't work, let the battery run down completely, and then plug it into your computer. Wait till there is enough of a charge to turn it on, and then turn it on.
