Yeah parents can be real hypocrites at times :P

Im no counsellor, but what I can say is, try to talk to your mum about it, try to point out as well the benefits that your brother might get (ie independence, cleaning skills) if he were to clean his room by himself

tried and tested.

always try to see things from the other guys perspective. Maybe your mother thinks that its better for your brother to slack, so try to tell her that its in your brother's best interest for him to clean his own room.

uh, as a last resort you could always complain to your dad?

hmm sounds like good old fashioned sexism. A woman has to clean and cook, and well your brother will get married to someone who does that stuff for him.

You could try to point out that most women want an equal partner now (not someone they have to clean up after) but it may not work... your mother has traditional gender roles and after a couple of decades of holding on to these, she may not be willing to let them go...

Well, try to suggest to your mother that your brother should learn some housekeeping skills to clean his own room.
Or, if you want, tell your brother that he should clean his room. If that doesn't work, tell your father.
