The law is there for a reason. A child's liver isn't as strong as that of an adult. I heard about a toddler whose parents gave him a bottle of beer. Sadly, he died from alcohol poisoning. I have a niece who'll be coming twelve soon. I think if I pictured her either drinking alcohol or smoking, I'd be horrified. Not only will you risk getting you and your parents into trouble, you could be making yourself fatally ill. It's not worth it and you aren't missing out on anything. You don't want to become the kind of person whose breath badly smells of alcohol. It can slowly change your personality too. Also, it makes you more vunerable to all the things happening around you. When some people get drunk they could be killed, kidnapped, raped or goodness knows what else. If you do decide to start drinking at your age and get caught, you could be taken away from your parents and put into a care home, or your parents could end up going to prison for being irresponsible. Think about it. You have too much to lose if you start drinking alcohol.
I think that's insane for a 13-year-old.
Where I live the drinking age is 19 but when I turned 16-years-old my parents did occasionally buy the odd cooler for me if I stayed in my house which I saw nothing wrong with because they were here with me and usually 1 of my friends and I didn't leave the house. Now that I am legal I barley ever drink.
well if the parents are buying the alcohol for them, and they're gunna take the responsiblity for watching their 13yr old.. then sure, why not?, but the parents should really limit them to not drinking far too much ofcourse. I was like 12 when I first tried a bit of wine/champane... and like 16 when I tried Heinekins.
I think it's okay only if they drink in moderation.
I think the laws were set as a reason:
Mostly people under the age of 21 are not mature for their age. But some are, so you can't really judge EVERYONE.
I'll be honest, I do drink somewhat. I don't get drunk, I know my limit.
Most of all, drinking could lead to a serious problem. Drinking heavily will lead to serious consequences
Some parents are bad influences on their children, Drinking in front of them and heavily, getting drunk and driving teaches very bad morals for children. So if you are raised with it, there's a good chance you will think it's okay.
Yes drinking could lead to a serius problem but so could loads of other things- moderation is key I do admit that but I could fight that constantly having unprotected sex could leed to serious problems(teenage pregnancy or even childbirth at teenage years), constantly going on video games could give you sezures, eating too much could make you fat. Modertion is the way it should be
I dont know where all you guys are from but I live in Australia and the legal drinking age is 18. An 18 year old myself I think that 18 is fine but it might be just me to wait another 3 years would be overkill. I love how 21 stops younger kids drinking but can someone tell me why so many people dont agree with drinking at 18 same as gambling but allow driving at 16??
to be honest, I think it's apserlootly fine for a teen to drink, in the house or outside. it's a choice of free will, and as long as you're mam and dad are happy then I suppose thats even better. I dont see it in a way that its bad, because of the group of friends im in. so I suppose half the time it's not you'r fault, its just wanting to fit in with the croud? although thats wrong, dont you think if it was so bad, teens would realise by now what damage it does to you?
