at your age it's normal. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it has something to do with the tissues in your body stretching and growing. I don't think what you're feeing is the same as your mother's, though I'm sure they both hurt a LOT. I still get pains like that sometimes, and I'm fully grown. I had them the most when I was about 12, and you're right, it really HURTS. Don't worry about it too much unless somethnig else goes wrong.
