What is an emo?

ok maby im not cool or something, I know im not that old but can someone please tell me what an emo is I guess im not down with the lingo

emo means emotional or an emotional person its a weird yet intrestin life style they have a very neat sense of fashion though

emo is a genre of music, and now a style of dressing. just like punk, goth, nerd, ganster, jock, prep, ect, ect.
cutting has nothing to do with emo (thats in its own catagory = self-harm)
its also a word that retards use as an insualt.
but really its just a music genre and style of dress.
but everyone has there own opinions and veiws on it nowdays

Emo depend on what kind you are talking about is a person who is dpressed doesnt like themselves and dont like life. Most of them dress like goths and they cut themselves. YOUR BUDDY.
