Ugrade tonight, no more rating answers down

Jeremy Goodrich yep, that's me Asked by thedude 11 months ago, 5 answers.

It's not the only change we made, but, one of the ones we did that should be more visible to some people. It hasn't been a lot of members, however, those that constantly rate down advice from others simply because they don't like them has cost us members...

in the past...eg, people have closed their account as a result. And, as the solution to keep the no as an option was far too complicated, the best thing to do was remove it happy

Now when viewing an answer, you can either rate it as helpful (yes) or report it as abusive...and, if the abuse report *isn't* a violation of the rules, we can easily track it...so, if it happens repeatedly, we can take action on those few members that abuse the abuse system. On the bright side, too, rating answers good is always more fun than worrying about something not being helpful...so, I think this will have a positive impact on the site overall happy Thoughts ? Eventually, I'd like to have both options again...but, not if it's going to upset people and get abused.

I think it's a good idea- too many times I've seen users get a grudge against another user and mark their answers down, even when they have great answers. A bit silly that some people spoil it for the rest, but all in all a good solution.

I really like this -
Lately there has been a lot of unnecessary rating down which has caused people to get upset. I think having the option to rate up will keep the site more positive.

Its a good idea. Keeps the site more positive. Maybe with this amendment we will see the arguments on the religion and politics boards become milder

I think this is a great idea. It seems that recently we are having users that are abusing the no button for the simple face that they dislike a person or because they have been given the truth and simply don't want to hear the real answer.
