Whats the big deal about swine flu?

whats the big deal about SWINE FLU?? I dont see whats so bad about it. everyone freaked out about all the other epidemics or whatever and nothing happend. someone explain too me so maybe I can join you in freakin out XP

People tend to freak out over these things, and it's ludicrous.

Yes it is killing people- however, regular flus kill people too. Just because you catch it, doesn't necessarily mean a death sentence. This is mere hype, and people really do need to calm down.

It hasn't reached the desert part of California where I live,I know cause I haven't seen anybody wearing masks to cover there mouths and noses. Everyone should stay calm until further instruction.

I think people are freaking out because people have died because of it.
Also, because they don't know exactly what's going on with it.

I live in australia which were the swine flu is caught rite now. I have the nose flu. Im rushing to doctors. Its big problem. please I'm saying please dont catch it or the next 30days you wont be awaken your whole life.
Mexico country to America now to Australia. Lucky the people in America because it didn't spread.

I agree that people need to calm down. influenza kills thousands each year. the swine flu is just a harsher influenza virus. with the proper care you do not die. peoples lack of insurance is what has killed people not bc the virus kills everyone. the media tends to freak people out and people give false facts to one another by word of mouth. if you get sick all you do is go to the doctor and stay confined in your home so you do not pass it on the anyone.

I live in florida and people arent going crazy where I live but some schools in ft.lauderdale have closed down because some kids have symptoms of the flu... its kind of annoying because they tell us all the time to wash our hands! there is nothing wrong with it but they nag and nag...w.e.

I agree wit you. this IS NOT the first time it has passed through. people dies from the common flu and noone freaks out bout it. people dies from lung cancer but noone is freakin out bout it. yes its somethin to be aware of but people has taken this WAY out of porportion. but I also guess its cause some doesn have peace of God wit them to help them through.

From the information I have gathered while watching the news and other broadcasts on this topic, these are the main 4 reasons why the media is turning this into such a large epidemic:

-The H1N1 Virus (swine flu) has been at fault to the deaths of several people.

-Humans have not built up an immunity to such a harsh virus.

-It's an airbourne virus; meaning it can travel from one person to another very easily.

-They don't have antibiotics or other types of medicine to kill the virus in it's tracks and they don't have a vaccine to kill it before it even begins to take over your immune system.
