Turkey and tryptophan

this is the last one I tried Asked by connielane over 2 years ago, 1 answer.

Do you think it's the tryptophan in turkey that makes you sleepy or is it that you ate too much that makes you sleepy?

supposedly tryptophan is not why you get sleepy after you eat a big Thanksgiving dinner with turkey. They say that turkey doesn't really have enough tryptophan in it to do that, but that it's because your body must exhaust a lot of energy to digest the big meal.
