Trucks traction in rain

Thunder Robot Asked by funadvice about 1 month ago, 3 answers.

(I don't know why, but I asked this question in Yahoo Answers because I was logged in there anyway... and everyone on there was kind of well-- to put it lightly-- sarcastic to me-- they told me maybe I should learn how to drive, and that I must not have any experience driving! Then they told me to go out and buy new tires! As if I have the money for that! Then they told me that what I want to do would look junky! My truck IS junky that doesn't matter at this point anyway)

So what I was wondering was if some sand bags in the back of my truck would help with my traction in the rain. I spin out sometimes when I am going up hill when its wet out. My Dad told me it wouldn't help... I live in WV so there are allot of hills around here. Anyways thanks for helping me out, I've been wondering. I put them in there anyway just in case they will help.

well it might help but it would honestly be hardly noticeable, the best you could do is just get your tires re-treaded, in a garage wich isnt very expensive:D

Added weight over the axle will increase traction along with a decrease in gas mileage - best in the rain 1) slow down 2) put headlights on as visibility is reduced 3) very heavy rain, use flashers (helps others see you)...Take care !!

how many sandbags did you put in? you won't notice a difference until at LEAST 200 pounds, and if you want to make it a usable difference, that number really ought to be more like 500. what kind of truck is it? if your tires are really so bald that you need new ones, just buy used tires. they're like 15 or 20 bucks a piece. try just replacing your back 2. go easy on the gas when you're going up hills...try getting your speed up before you reach them. good luck with that...live the dream.
