have you ever heard of a film called 'guess who's coming to dinner'? its a wonderful film about a couple who met and fell in love. they are bi-racial tho rather controversial esp considering the state of civil rights at that time in the united states when the film was made (mid 1960s). there is one scene where the young man speaks privately to the parents of the young woman, and tells them he made a decision and would like their answer. altho the young woman is very determined to marry him, he wont marry her unless the parents make a clear statement of their approval. he states that he isnt willing to put the young lady thru the pain of a situation where her parents dont approve. i recommend you see this film and think analyze what it is that defines a person of character, what it is that moves people to be respectful of significant others in their lives, why we have codes of conduct. no one can force you to be good. we cant change the hearts of others. however we can ask you to be critical of your own behaviour and do you best to make good decisions. pls thik about other stories of young lovers who made choices without support or approval of their families or loved ones and how the story ended in tears. so many good examples. take your time, get your ducks in a row and see your young man with blessing of all involved is my best advice.
