I'm having a tonsilectimy what can I do to calm down?

So tomorrow im getting my tonsils out. And im so nervous. What can I do to calm down? I've never had surgery before.

Just relax. The nurses and doctors expect patients to be nervous. They will explain everything they do to you tomorrow. When you arrive at the hospital you could ask the nurse for a pre-medication before you go to theatre. This will relax you and you probably won't be able to remember much of the experience after surgery.

hey I had my tonsils out when was way younger I think I was about nine. I was so scared becauce my uncle had told me they were going to use a big knife and then he said he was going to spread my tonsils on his toast. I hated him ever since. but honestly it was that bad, your allowed to be nervous but if you can help it dont worry to much, for one the docs know what theyre doing and two you wont feel a thing till you wake up and even then its just like have a bad cold with a sore throat. I didnt want ice cream after my op...its meant to sooth the pain but it hurts to swollo it, so I got the nurses to melt it and I drank it lol. if you are like me you arent going to want to talk after the op so get a pad and pen and write notes, I did that for about a week
