Tonsil removed!

ok..my throat hurts like HELL! my tonsils are huge...lol...yea I prob. need to removed them...does anyone had them removed? how does it feel? does it make your voice diff.?? AH tell me about! please!!!

I had mine out at 18...I didn't fare nearly as well as the kids do when they have them out. Kids can eat icecream within 24 hours...I didn't want to swallow at all for a week.

if you do get them out, its not that bad, just have ice cream or popsickle, or anything cold I got mine out a while ago

I had mine taken out in June of last yr...it hurt like hell trying to talk for a day or so afterwards. I was able to eat Ramen Noodles 3 days later. As for the voice thing...it does for the first week or so...depends on if you actually let your voice heal or not...I didn't let it fully heal before I talked so it took longer to heal.

I had my tonsils out when I was 12, all the other kids on my ward were much younger. I had been on the waiting list for about 2 years and then finally got a date as I had tonsilitis every single week and basically lived on penicillin!
All the other people I know who have their tonsilis out said it hurt but mine hurt like hell. and to make it worse, after about 15 mins after having them out, they tried to make me eat sausage chips and beans! I refused and they eventually gave me some ice cream :| did anyone else have this experience?

As for the voice, I was told it wouldn't change but it actually does!

When I had mine removed I didn't even want to eat ice cream. I couldn't talk and I didn't want to swallow AT ALL. But after a while it started to feel better. And now it's hurrting like hell again. I don't know what to do.

Hi guys im geting my tonsils taken out tomorrow and im 16 im really nervous because I heard the after pain is the worst.. and that halloween is next saturday do you think ill be fine?

I gotten my tonsils taken lout last month. there was a great amount the first night, I cryed myself to sleep. im thirteen. my doctor to took out my tonsils prescribed me medicine. it was called something with codeine in it. I couldnt open my mouth the first 5 days. once I did, I found white spots from where my tonsils were located. its normal. once you are healed, they fall off. you will not notice it when they do. the 5th 6th 7th day your ears may start hurting but thats because your white spots are healing and ready to fall off. you may not sleep good for awhile but thats what the medicine is for. you will leave the hospital the first day unless your doctor tells you otherwise. hope I helped, and if you get your tonsils removed. goood luckkk! because before I couldnt eat steak and now if my favorite food!
