Can prescription drugs cause a messed up child?

Asked by fau 14 days ago, 1 answer.

Is a person who has been taking perscription drugs for years likely to have a child who is messed up in any way? I'm completely off drugs, I take no perscription drug or illegal drug. My boyfriend has been taking an anti-depressant for years and years....

Please help.

Everyone on this planet has a chance of having a baby with some sort of disability, that's why during pregnancy many tests are done to the woman to see how the baby is developing and such. Depending on what kind of drugs, chances can be increased of this happening. But keep in mind, two perfectly healthy people can have a baby who is disabled. There is never 100% chance that your baby is going to come out with nothing wrong with him/her.
