The sims 2 wont install!

Hi I uninstalled the sims 2 to put it on a hardrive (called the MAXTOR)and now it wont reinstall! it stops at 13% and says TSData/Res/Sims3D/Sims13.package do you want to retry or cancel the instalation.I click retry and it goes up a couple of numbers...

then the same thing pops up. I press retry until it gets to 100%. every 10 minutes or so the retry thing keeps popping up. it happens with disc 1. I've installed it on this computer before (IBM Windows Vista computer)and it worked fine but now its stuffing up. I've tried copping the discs into disk images files and renaming the installshield and all that but it still doesn't work what should I do?
