The science of black eyes

Cute, huh? Asked by lovestruck7233 9 days ago, 4 answers.

Does anyone know the scientific reason why if you get punched hard in or around your eye, the skin turns like a really dark purple?

The purple skin is actually a bruise.

yeah, its bruising
when youve been hit hard or something, some of your cells die in that area
the purple is those dead cells, and the new cells start to heal it
but it takes a week or more
it happens on any other part of your body
but your eye and the skin around it is much more fragile than the skin on say, your leg
so itll turn a bit darker and swell up a bit or a lot

There are LOTS of blood vessels in your face...when they burst from getting hit hard...the blood stays just below the surface of the skin...a bruise...like everybody said.

Because whenever someone punches somebody near the eye they are actually implanting an alien inside their face, it works it's way from the face to the brain and takes over that persons mind. Don't ever get punched in the face dude!
