The contraceptive pill

mee Asked by intense 9 months ago, 5 answers.

Okay I'm sorry if this question has been asked before but I'm in need of advice. I tried looking it up myself but got more confused. My new boyfriend refuses to use condoms as he hates the way they feel. We both got checked at the doctors to be sure...

neither of us had any infections and can go without condoms. We were using the withdrawl method but he doesn't want to do that anymore. He wants me to go on the pill but im hesitant as I've heard bad things. I've heard they can make you put on weight and give you bad skin. There is no way I want that to happen as my skin is already not the best. I want to know:
1) How many different kinds of pills are there? and
2) is there a pill that has no side effects and is it true there is one kind that actually makes your skin better??

Wow - congrats for getting on the pill - the Withdrawel Method - is the cause for most of the teenage pregnancies - it does not work. Period.

There are tons of different types of pills - although you do not decide what one to get one. You have to go see an obgyn or a plannetparenthood and they will tell you what pill would best suite you and your needs.

All birth control has possible side effects - although most people never experience them at all. I've been on the pill since I was 16 (I'm 23 now) and I have never had a side effect from it.

You can talk to your obgyn - there has been heresay that getting on birth control can help with acne - because of the hormones in them.

okay for one I dont like your boyfriend...if he really cared about you I dont think he would not wear a comdom..thats stupid...

but I deffinitally agreee with mandyloo...with draw is stupid..which pisses me off even more about this dude

and last I was on YAZ which helped me with my acne adn didnt make me gain weight !

p;ease be careful and be safe...adn to be honest if this guy cared enough about you I think he would use a condom because getting pregnant is sooo life altering adn that isnt as true for the guy...unless eh is completely and totallyy going to take care of a babyn as you would be...and the pulling out thing sucks...and I garentee he knows that...I think he has his mind set on getting some...not wether you get pregnant and ruin your life just because he dont like to wear condoms !

Well, only some pills cause weight gain- my doctor made sure to give me one that didn't.
I don't know where you heard that its bad for your skin, because doctors actually prescribe the pill for acne sometimes. It improves your skin.
But it all really depends on what pill you take.

We have both discussed the issue, which in itself I think shows that he is being mature about it. He could have said nothing and kept doing what he was doing but he said we need to agree on a method of contraception that works for both of us. He said in his past relationships he tried using condoms but as soon as he put it on he couldnt stay...'in the mood.' I have made it clear to him that if I were to fall pregnant id be keeping the baby. He said he would be there to support me and I know that he would. He cares about me and is very financially secure. But I don't want it to get to that if I can help it!

it is possible to still get pregnant being on the pill and using no protection to let you know.. like when you are on the pill the boy should still always wear a condom incase.
