What is the story of the Beatles and I hear they were hated, why?

Good place to check out would be wikipedia.com - from what I know (growing up in their era) they were well Loved, girls fainting all over the place ! - I still really enjoy their music !!

There were lots of people who hated the Beatles. Some people hated them for playing rock and roll. Some people hated them for wearing long hair, some people hated them for getting into Eastern mysticism, some people hated them for doing drugs,

The biggest backlash I remember against the Beatles was when John Lennon said that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Radio stations refused to pay their songs and people burned Beatles records.

This remidnds me of the backlash against the Dixie Chicks when they said they were ashamed of their President.

Who in their right mind would ever "hate" them? Yeah people did get easily offended by things they did or by things they said...

Like what the dude above me said...John did say that they were more popular than Jesus...and there was a lot of anti-beatlemania going on, but he later apologized...

Or some of their music...like "Hey Jude" one man thought "hey jude" meant "hey jew" and he was offended...

but they are awesome...and will never stop being awesome...their memory lives on forever...
