Telling a guy you like him: in a letter?

These are a dime a dozen, but I'll ask anyway.
I've liked a guy for a year or so and I can't say 'hello' without freezing up. I've tried to be subtle about it, but it's not my strong point, according to friends and family. My best friend knows I like him...

and she's offered to tell him, (since they're cousins) but I don't know if she should.
Should I tell him, let her do it or write a letter?

First of all dont let you friend tell him that you like him.. He is her cousin and might not take her seriously. Writting a letter might be something to do but then you should have to talk to him about your feelings sooner or later.. I think you should tell him in person that you like him.. It will show him and you that your stronger then you think. Also it would show him that you would be willing to go outside you confort zone to show him that you have feelings for him..

I'm having the same problem, his name is Justin and we talk but not like boyfriend-girlfriend. I'm in school still and don't know what to do becouse I don't know if he likes me. HELP!!!

Right, I'm totally in the same box, I really really like this guy, I have done the past 4 years, I thought I could just let it go you know, turn out I can't.. I think he might just like me too, he always goes out of his way to speak, even just to say hello or bye at the end of the day, and if anyone is being rude or anything, he's like stop that *punches* He's so lovely, and we get on great, but I'm just really self conscious, I don't know how to approach it.. any suggestions?
