Telepathy is defined as “the communication of one mind with another other than through the channels of the senses.”

The short definition is "mind reading" and it doesn't work because it doesn't exist. What does exist is the ability to read body language and facial expresions and other cues, and arrive at conclusions so accurate that people see it as telepathy.
