Tarot cleansing

How do I cleanse the energy from my Tarot card deck? I was taught to simply make a half circle of 7 stacks of 7. is that the only way?

One pack I had said to hold the cards in your non- dominant hand and rap your knuckles (of the other hand) on the top of the deck. This sends a wave of your energy through them. Then go through the cards, pulling each one into your dominant hand so you touch each one and close your eyes whilst you do this and ask for a clear reading. Do this every time someone else has touched your cards, or just from time to time.
