I used to get cold sores ALL the time on my lips when I was younger. I got them because I didn't protect my lips when I went out into the sun. If I got my face sunburned, sure enough these cold sores would pop out the next day. My lips would be so deformed from the swelling and talk about painful! I would be so embarassed to go outside. I wised up and now I won't go outside without my lip protection. I use a sunscreen that's at least 30 SPF. I won't leave home without it! I haven't had a cold sore in years!
