Why are suicide questions locked?

Why are sucicide questions locked? Arn't these people seeking help to important for the forum to be locked???

Because we're not qualified medical professionals who are equipped to help with that sort of thing. So, we recommend they get professional help and lock the question so that less kind individuals don't say anything malicious (as it's happened before).

yes. I don't understand this website, I find it kind of stupid that they lock certain questions that people obvisouly need answers to.

Yes, we do send them a message.

daniellee, what would you recommend? Obviously, we're not qualified medical professionals, so we can't give them couseling. And, we don't know if they are serious or not.

And, last but not least, we have had SEVARAL instances of people saying go kill yourself as an answer to a question about suicide.

Do you think that's a better situation than locking it??? I'm confused, enlighten me.

yeah Dude your definetly right on this one. Never thought of it that way. People saying go kill yourself is a frightning thing to say to anyone never mind someone whos contemplating it.

I see it this way.

The questions should be locked because we can't professionaly help these people.

They shouldn't be locked though, because people who have gone through the same thing can offer excellent advice.

Though, it's true they can funmail the person.

That's just my opinion.
