Stye?

Face! Asked by underwaterophelia about 1 year ago, 4 answers.

I think I may have a stye on my eye. It's not serious, and from what I've read, it's something that will probably clear up all on it's own.

Do any of you have any advice on how to make it clear up faster and less painfully?

Warm compress several times a day, but don't try to squeeze it.

If it doesn't seem to be clearing up in about a week, you might need to see the doctor to get an ointment...they do usually clear up on their own, though.

Put a clean, warm compress on your eye for 10 to 15 minutes, three to four times each day. The compress may help decrease the swelling and pain. To make a compress, soak a wash cloth in warm water. Wring out the wash cloth and place it gently over your eye.

Do not squeeze the stye. Keep your hands away from your eyes to prevent spreading the infection to other parts of the eye. Wash your hands often with soap and dry with a clean towel.

Help prevent getting another stye by washing your face and cleaning your eyelashes every day. Use make-up remover rather than just soap and water to remove eye make-up. This prevents heavy rubbing of your eyes and more completely removes the make-up.

Your eye make-up may have germs in it which may have caused the stye. Do not wear eye make-up while you have a stye. Throw away eye make-up and brushes used to apply the make-up. Use new eye make-up after the stye has gone away. Do not share eye make-up with others.

I found this:
(How to get rid of a Stye)

Step1
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap. Leave the water running hot.

Step2
Wet the corner of a clean washcloth with very hot water.

Step3
Apply one or two drops of baby shampoo on the wet corner and rub to produce suds.

Step4
Scrub gently along the edge of your upper and lower eyelid, inside the lash line of the affected eye. Limit direct eye contact with the lathered washcloth. Baby shampoo can irritate the cornea when rubbed against the eye.

Step5
Rinse the washcloth corner thoroughly with hot water and run it over your eyelid edges. Cup hot water into one hand and rinse out the eye completely. Dry your face with a clean towel. Launder the washcloth before using.

Step6
Follow steps 1 through 5 in the morning and before bedtime to get rid of a stye and keep it away. Do an additional cleansing anytime a stye deposits gel into the eye.
