I'm guessing your computer is in your room...
the fans generate more warmth and stuffiness than you would expect.
You shouldn't have the windows open and the AC on at the same time. Have the windows open and use an oscillating fan. Also, turn off your computer when you're not on it, even if it's only for 20 minutes.
Is the AC actually working - cool air and all.
If the system needs recharging or the compressor isn't working or if your heat exchange fins are frozen up, you will get no cooling.
Also ACs can only cool so much. If it is EXTRA hot and muggy, the AC can only cool 15-20 degrees. And if you are trying to exceed it's capacity (I.e. 5000 BTU unit to cool more than 1 fair sized room) it won't be able to cool that much.
Do any of these apply?
Good Luck!!
Incorrect. Please ignore the statements of the person who cannot spell his own name properly (or chooses to spell it wrong).
The amount of power it takes to turn a computer on and off is less than (not equavalent, not more) than the power it would take to remain idle. Especially for long periods of time. Leaving it on all the time also wears down your hardware and power supply. I have literally witnessed computer catching fire because of this.
-Turn off your computer when you're not on it, even if it's only for twenty minutes.-
I was discussing all periods of time. I didn't say -only if it''s for twenty minutes- I said -when you are not using it- which applies to any amount of time during which it is not being used, with -twenty minutes- implied as the minimum time.
You got mold or mildew somewhere, go hunt it down. If you smell it more when the AC is on, then you found the cause. Spray down the AC air intake with Lysol or some other disinfectant or mold/mildew killer. Might as well try that even if you're not sure. If it's not the AC then go hunt for wet or moist spots (possibly from the AC dripping on something under it). If you still can't find it then it might be inside the walls. At that point you'd need a professional inspector.
