Take the time apart and see what happens, if he really loves you he will notice that not hearing from you is making him unhappy.
The fact that you guys have been going out so long on a long distance relationship is impressive enough and has to mean something.
Don't push him into anything but make him come to you. Woman got this power over men which really sucks I might ad (from a mans side )
Try and relax take a deep breath and give him his space, give him more than he bargained for. If he really loves you, you will see him on valentines day

Send me Fun Mail
My boyfriend and I have been dating for 9 months. We have been doing the long distance thing since we've been together so it's been harder on us. We spent new years eve together and had a blast and everything was fun, but then it was time for him to go. We had a deal going that he was be working more so that he could come back and live down here where I live until after I graduated. Now, he thinks that he's not going to be able to have enough to come down here due not making enough money. I've been jobless for almost a year and still haven't had any luck on a job. I promised him I would have a job by the time he came down and he's supposed to be coming down the second week in February (around Valentines Day). We got into a fued a couple of nights ago and he's stressing out about the money and how he's saying that I don't appreciate what he's doing, which I do but I don't show it enough. I keep asking him if he's still coming down and get mad if he says 'I don't know'. He says he can no longer talk to me about his stress and now it's really making me depressed because of the fact that he can't talk to me. He says that we need a break from each other as far as not talking to each other on the phone so much. How do I fix this situation? It's really upsetting me. How can I get him to open up to me?
