Stealing pictures... :/

;]] Asked by preciouslove 10 months ago, 12 answers.

I was on myspace earlier and my friend Fay sent me someone else's profile to look at that she found. And they had my pictures as theirs. :/
Pretending to be me.
It ticks me off.
It gets to my nerves! :/

Why must people do that?
Should I confront...

the person?
Well... actually, I know it may not doing anything... what to do?
Leave it be? How can I when it bugs the living daylights out of me?

Different people gain different things from pretending to be someone else just b/c you think they have nothing to gain they actually might, like people liking them or popularity on the internet.
For credit cards that's one type of identity theft the most common actually
Identity theft is a term used to refer to fraud that involves someone pretending to be someone else in order to steal money or get other benefitsand here are several definitions of fraud:
1.deceit, trickery, sharp practice, or breach of confidence, perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage.

2.a particular instance of such deceit or trickery: mail fraud; election frauds.

3.any deception, trickery, or humbug.

4.a person who makes deceitful pretenses; sham; poseur.

5.One who assumes a false pose; an impostor.(BINGO!)

Identity theft is divided into 5 sub categories one of which is;
*identity cloning (using another's information to assume his or her identity in daily life) As in the case of myspace, facebook, etc.

Using another persons photo is very dangerous and illegal

I do read up on my stuff in fact I do my research instead of going on some gut feeling like some people

SO me doing my research and finding out whether or not it's true is bad advice? And what yours is excellent advice?Uh no thanks I'd rather keep doing what I do and actually giving out advice that is potentially helpful.

I'm sure if you contact Tom, myspace founder, he can do something about it.

blerggher but posing as someone else is,same as if you were pretending to be a doctor, the person can get in a heck of a lot of trouble under the charges of ;fraud, slander, and maybe impersonation IF thats a real charge lol.
But yea I member a case where some kids faced legal action just b/c they were pretending to be someone on myspace.

you have nothing to gain over making a fake myspace, identity theft is using someones identity to steal from them or make credit cards in their name pretending to be someone on myspace is not identity theft. And my best defense? you said making a fake myspace is equivalent to impersonating a doctor??? you need to read up on stuff before giving bad advice.
