Dear phil2611,
If you went to 3 different counsellors, 3 different doctors or 3 different friends you may get 3 different answers. Some will answer with personal experience, some will answer with text book facts and some will answer just off the top of their head with no rhyme or reason. The more who answer each question the more choices the person asking has. Advice is very subjective on a forum such as this. If the person wanted a professional answer they would indeed seek out a professional but as we know even the professionals differ. So I give my advice hoping that the people asking take in account all the answers given and make their own choices.

Advice is something that is opinionated. That's why when you ask for advice, you tend to ask several people to get a thrust of the general idea of what to do.
I wouldn't hope for straightforward advice on this site, unless the question is clear-cut, eg: 'Who was the president of the united states in 1982?'. Now that question is very very clear cut and you will get unbiased answers there.
However, if you ask a question like 'Can the world survive without religion?', then you will get answers as varying as there are people.
I always try to answer with a open mind , though some call for serious advice . All my advice is just to be helpful , not to be hurtful , well I hope I come across as such
We can't be neutral when giving OUR advice/opinions because they are based upon a lifetime of experience which makes us biased to begin with.
It's a little different when giving information meant to be factual rather than opinion. Then, I think, most answer givers are neutral.

Shouldn't you stay neutral in your advice?
Send me Fun Mail
Greetings fellow users of FunAdvice.com, I have noticed upon my travel from question to question answering them to the best of my abilities, a level of unneutralness from some of the users. In my opinion, people who give advice, should either begin their help with facts, and towards the end state your personal opinion, (by actually stating, 'Moreover in my opinion' or, 'Inconclusion to this is my opinion' Or something like that.
---
Why do I bring this up?
---
- I bring this up because people are usually looking for facts, and sometimes, people say for example 'The RIGHT thing to do is to wait until your married to move out of your mother's house.' Which is completely untrue. Yet, the person that is asking for help, does not now that this is not true, and will think this is the way it's done. 'I can't change anything, it never will change, and this is the way I have to do it' Moreover, the 'correct' way. And when we give advice we never, ever, want to make people think, or kowably only educate about one vew of the subject.
---
- I use to use wikipedia, and just copy and paste advice, until I read-up, and learned that, I shouldn't be doing that, and that people come here looking for advice from regular people. This makes sense, because anyone can go to wikipedia and get an answer. But you can only learn experience in life from others who have made a mistake or you yourself making one.

Please post your veiws on this topic, one and all!
