Stardom for singing

I love to sing and im a very good singer. How do I get noticed by record companies if I live in a area where nobody looks???

Make a tape, send it to places outside of jersey or I read somewhere that youtube or myspace is a good place to get started. Just record yourself singing and put it on there. Some record companies now might have a myspace or facebook so you could send it to them there too.
