I would start off taking something benign to the body like muscle milk collegiate or 100% Whey protein. These are just supplements that have a lot of calories and protein. Its like eating another meal but easier. The real danger lies in having WAY to much of it. Like 200 grams of protein a day if your just starting out which can hurt your liver. If you have it once or even twice a day you should be alright.
Once you start getting into creatine and NOexplode then you start seeing a little more side effects.
