It is NOT just for women who dont want to be impregnated by men, but is also (and probably mostly) used by couples who suffer from problems of infertility... and as plenty of people use it and they screen for genetic disorders, I'm not entirely sure what contamination is being talked about...

HOWEVER, you are a minor and so your parents would have to agree, and even then I dont know where you'd find a doctor willing to do it. It is also very expensive.

andyburton - 'There are at least 1000 different viral infections possible with sexual contact'

what is your source? 1000 viral infections...
I believe that you are trying to use a scare tactic...
please state the facts...
list 20 out of the 1000...

If 1000 viral infections are possible through sexual contact (I would love to know your source here) then perhaps it is better to get it done through a clean sperm bank who will screen for any viruses (yes, it is possible to look for viruses, even those that are smaller than sperm, they have actually invented microscopes and tests which do just that). It seems to be safer than having sex?

well, andyburton, I AM a scientist (biochemist) and my husband is a physician specializing in infectious disease. if you are presenting, as fact, that there are 1,000 viruses that may be transmitted through sexual relations, then you are wrong. viruses that sustain virulence within the parameters of vaginal/seminal does not even come close to numbering 1,000.
medical advice, should be researched and correct before being posted. to do less is negligent at least.
