im sorry that someone told you that, it sounds very hurtful.

chances are they were just intimidated by you and felt defensive. Most people react by attacking the other person when they are defensive. this is hurtful, but sadly true.

besides, you can acquire brains even if you dont have them now. so their insult was rather void of impact. ignorance is curable, but stupid is not...chances are your not stupid, or even ignorant because you are here trying to figure out other people.
