Sometimes i don't understand gay people.

My cat, Dopey Asked by kittyluck 4 months ago, 20 answers.

One thing that I'm confused about is how gay people say that I didn't choose to be gay. I beg to differ yes you do choose to be gay. It wasn't given to you. No offense but that is just how I feel.
Another thing is when I was watching news on tv and...

people were holding signs. On one side people were holding signs saying God hates Jews and God hates Fags which is just totallyv wrong and on the other side I saw one picket sign saying God made me gay I was so offended. Why would you want to blame God for that?

Fortunately (unfortunately?) scientists disagree with you... Homosexuality is partially genetic... As for choosing to be gay, you think people want to be discriminated against? They wake up one day and decide their life is so perfect that they just have to make it harder?
Sorry, who is BLAMING God? Blame would imply it was a fault or a mistake or a punishment. oh and I agree, God had nothing to do with it. God doesnt have anything to do with anything...

Oh and try not to be too offended, God did talk about not judging others, oppressing others, and speaking unwholesome things... but I understand, ignorance is sometimes so hard to contain.

I think it depends on how you look at it, some people know they are gay from a young age because they feel an attraction the the same sex, other take a little longer to figure it out, im not sure blaming god is the answer but im not sure, from the moment you are convieced the cells develop and apparently know what you are going to look like, so maybe it does happen when you are born, im not completly sure but I think all gay people are pretty certain they dont have a choice, and I agree I dont think they can force themselves to like girls or boys if they are lesbians

Well, I am totally for gay rights, but I won't let my opinions interfere. I understand that everyone has their own opinions and I respect that. Studies have been made however that suggest that the brain of a gay man has more in common with a females brain. I believe that gay, lesbians, and bisexuals are born that way.

That being said, there are crazy people everywhere whether they are gay or straight. The people who picket holding these signs are just wanting attention. If you have read my profile, you will know that I am not Christian. I do not worship God so the religious aspect of this question is not for me to comment on.

Like I said, everyone has the right to have their own lives and their own opinions.

Being gay is like being straight. You cant help but be attracted to the same sex, like being straight. In a way I do kinda believe your born gay, as gay people are usually never been attracted to the opposite sex, Or it doesnt feel 'right' when they are with the opposite sex in that way. So they didnt choose. But I do see where your coming from (:

Wow, you see signs such as those and you are SO OFFENDED by the one that said G-d made homosexuals.
Too bad your extreme outrage does not extend to the hatred printed on the other two signs.

You seem to be a vey bigoted young woman.

Lesbians,Gay men Bi sexuals I think are born that way. Science provides a (theory in which gay persons are genetically wired difrentlly than hetero sexuals. There chromosones are different so yes they feel the attraction to the same sex. Remember homosexuality is nothing new. There where homosexuals back in the bible days where in one instance actually tried to go into Davids house (if im not mistaking) to have sex with him. Sodom gomorrah was filled with homosexuals. I dont personally agree with it but it is also not my place to Judge someone either.People who are mentally Ill do not choose to be that way either yet years ago people looked upon them as outcast until research showed it was ation real illness that required treatment. My main problem with homosexuality is that it seems to me to be a counterproductive union.Relationships with a man/woman generally outcome with procreation..production of offspring. this is the key point of a union, whereas same sex union cannot result in procreation there is a reason for that. If it werent man/man..woman/woman would be able to procreate. But in the same sense I believe people have a right to happines. If your not happy then what is the purpose in havin life at all. So if thats what makes one happy then by all means be happy.

No one chooses to be hated, maimed, teased, or murdered solely for the fact that they're part of the LGBT community.

That's like saying African Americans chose to have a different skin color and become slaves.

its alreadt been proven homosexuality is genetic, and also shows up in brain patterns
so really, you havent the slightest clue how someone can be gay...
read up about it, there are articles everywhere with proof...

so yeah I think you are being ignorant

But I am not ignorant

sorry, but choosing to ignore scientific evidence as far as I'm concerned is ignorant...

But it is true that God made people the way they are

make up your mind... if God made people the way they are, then God made people Gay...
because, lets even take your supposition, that people choose to be gay, that means that God made them in a way that led them to choose to be gay... you cant have it both ways... either God made it or God didnt... oh but right, religions do like to pick and choose what God did or did not do...

You didnt do this to ostracize anyone? Ok, I'll give you that one. But do tell, what exactly do you want advice on?

and yey24, if she's allowed to feel that way, why cant we feel whatever we feel about bigots or narrow minded people? surely that's a one directional way of looking at things?

When someone makes the statement that it So offended them that a sign said that G-d created homosexuals and then follows that with Why would you want to blame God for that?
Blame...?
Do you blame G-d for creating different races?
Do you blame G-d for creating sunsets?
Do you blame G-d for creating the seasons?
No, you thank G-d for creating these things...

Using the term blame is an interesting choice...blame as in G-d did a bad thing by creating homosexuals.

***'What people were saying about Jews and F-gs were wrong.'

Also, I find it interesting that you continue to use the word F-gs in your answers.
You continue to use an offensive term, instead of changing it to homosexuals.

You say not to blame G-d for creating homosexuals and then you use the
word F-gs instead of homosexuals.

A person who was NOT bigoted against homosexuals would NOT have repeated the word F-gs in their answer.

A person who was NOT bigoted (and at this point I add ignorant) would NOT have used the word blame in describing the creation of homosexuals.

Of course gay people don't choose to be gay...if science can't convince you, try some logic. WHY would someone choose to live a lifestyle that even now, can be so difficult?? WHY do many gay people try to live as hetro's before coming out...trying to be what society (at least in the past) demanded they be?? WHY do many know that they are different, that something is off at 7 or 8 or 10 years old, long before hormones have ever kicked in??

Read the science...and then think it thru in a logical way...

Certain scientists believe that people are born gay. From what I know it is not proven, but possible. And if they hold signs saying God made them gay they are not being offfensive. They are trying to say they were born gay and God would not have made them that way if he had a problem with gays or if there was something wrong with them for being gay and that it is natural for some people to be gay and to stop being discriminating against them because it offends them.

I am changing my stance on this a little. (People can change BTW, LOL!) I never believed it was in the genes. I was convinced it was a lifestyle choice. Based on what I had learned from an ex gay man who converted to heterosexuality. He described the free-sex society in the bay area and how it repulsed him. He told me people are gay or by because it is easier to find sexual partners. This is true. As Heterosexuals have the same problems. So I believed it to be a sexual obsession problem, probably stemming from early childhood abandment issues.

Recently I have befriended another gay man and have come to see that there has to be more to the same sex attraction in a true gay person than meets the eye. This man and me go places and though he chooses an opposite sex partner, he still finds men attractive sexually. I look at the same man ---nothing. . and visa versa. I dont get it. He is able to over come those urges, but it is hard. He seekd help through various community based organizations who help those with common aflictions. I still believe God or nature have no use for homosexuality but it is definitley inherint in the genetic make up. and not just a choice.

let's see, because according to (I am assuming your bible as well) god MADE everything.

not that it is anything to be blaming him about, since there is nothing wrong with it.

Oh Freefromself, you were going so good until you said this. No use? Do you mean becuase they aren't reproducing? Cause then every infertile couple, or those who choose not to have kids, are also of no use.

Whether it is a choice or not is irrelevant. They are what they are. Accept it, and move on.

Answered by nelly91 on Jul 06, 2009, 12:31PM

well I think that some people choose it because the oppisite sex has done wrong to them. but also its just like when your younger you dont choose to look at guys or girls you just look at one or the other or sometimes both. so there are many situations on weather or not gay people choose that life style I have a girlfriend that was married to a man and he did her wrong and she had a kid with him and everything but after they got married he changed so she said that she wanted to see what it was like being with a women she told me that she was already atracted to women along time ago but didnt know if it was just because she thought of them as pretty or if she actual wanted them. Well now I live with her and our son and she has made that decision to be with me but she also loves me. As for me I am both ways I find both males and females attractive and sometimes it's not your choice to get picked on or made fun of or any of that people hate a lot for people being gay but really we are all people. god loves everyone no matter what you do or how you live your life. if you want to have sexual relationships with the same sex or the opposite that is your life no one else's if you dont like it then who cares you dont sleep with them leave them alone they are happy.
