I'm not saying that it's bad, or wrong to socialize. If I were saying that, I'd be a hypocrite...

pwincess, be nice.

I've met some people off the site who live in New York, and I correspond with a few more that don't. I don't see much of an issue with it, no more than with any other site other than the people on here tend to skew younger.

Asking and answering questions is the main purpose of FA, but socializing is a natural outcome of that. You 'meet' all sorts of people here, and chances are you'll have something in common with them and like to talk about it. It's as simple as that.

If we didn't want people to do it...would we have added:
fun mail? No.
profile comments? No.
Photo comments? No.
Photo sharing? No.
Member browing? No.
Groups? No.

We would have left the site as we launched it over six years ago...ask / answer, and done happy

I've just heard people that hate the socializing on FA...
I was just looking for opinions, not whether it was formed for that purpose or not..
