Why do so many of my friends cut?

I have a friend that I have talked about before and she is in a institution for cutting today I found out that 3 more of my friends are cutting why do they all cut is it to just releive stress or is it some strange fad that is out I cant understand why they would do I anyway

well people cut for differnt reasons and its one in 10 teens that cut I think!!! well some do it for attention aprently but I've never meet anyone who does that!!! others do it because its pyhsical act that lets out emotional pain for a short while, so when they feel the pain of hurting them selfs they temperally forget about they emotional problems its hard to understand unless you do it urself , I didnt understand befor either , but jsut be there for your friends if they need you ok its hard to go through it jsut let them know that your there just please dont start it because it becomes well addictive in a way (bad way to describe it sorry)
