So he likes me but...

I feel like such a girl for asking this, by the way.

There's this guy (let's call him Carter) that has lived down the street from me for years. Since I was in grade school. He's always out playing basketball in my cold-e-sack (spelled that WRONG) with...

all of the other boys in the neighborhood. I know his best friend pretty well, because him and my good friend are close friends as well.

Anyway, the other day I was sitting in my driveway. They were across the street, playing basketball. One of Carter's friends called my name and then told me that Carter liked me. (The official words; Briana! Hey! The redhead, Carter likes you. He likes you a lot.)

Now, I don't ever mean to hurt people (for the most part), but I didn't know what to say. It's not like I dreamed of the moment forever (more on this later) or even ever thought about it. So, I said the first thing that popped in my head. I don't...care.

I know. WTF is wrong with me. Carter pretends to be a jock and all rock hard, but he is really sensitive.

So here's my problem. I don't think I like him, not in the way he does me. Mainly, because I hardly know him, ya know? I thought I could give him a try though, to see how I felt about him. However, it seems like he is avoiding me. I walk past him everyday, multiple times a day and Carter says nothing. He doesn't even look up. I can't make the first move, because well, I am a coward.

AND

No guy has ever said he liked me (though, it was some one else doing it for him...) Unless you count the time when Alex Moron (not his real last name...) pushed me against a locker then asked me out. I some what don't believe him. Honestly, Carter is a cute little red head. He's not buff or extremely hot or anything. (LOOKS DON'T MATTER). But, still, I am not that pretty. And no, it's not me being down on myself. I like my hair and my face, I love it lots. But I don't like my body, it doesn't fit. I am worried that he and his friends are playing a sick little prank on me. I don't want to make a move to talk to him, if it's one big prank. That would really kill me! I hate being embarrassed.

So, I am really confused. How do I get him to confront me and talk to me? HELP!
