How to keep running track if i smoke?

Mario Lemieux favorite hockey player Asked by icehockeyguy about 1 year ago, 6 answers.

how can I keep running track when I smoke.
I participate in the following:
shot put
discus
400 and 1200
I've noticed I can hardly run the 400m without huffing and puffing, is there a way I could stop this without quiting?

Doubtful - your smoking is decreasing lung capacity.

You're only 14 and already you are seeing some of the negative effects of smoking. If you're smart, you'll become a non-smoker now and reap the rewards for the rest of your life.

You can keep doing both, it's just you'll have to put off the track for about 3/4 years... but once you die of lung cancer/ heart failure you can run and jump all you want.

Don't listen to these idiots. You can run and smoke, it's just a lot harder to run as your lung capacity won't be top notch.

I just got out of the army, while I was in, I smoked (and still do) at least 1 pack a day.

In the army, for the 18 - 25 year old age group, on a PT test (which consists of 2 minutes of push ups, 2 minutes of sit ups, and then running 2 miles) in order to get a maximum score on the run, you need to do 2 miles in 13 minutes(for men).

My average was around 13:45(still better than 75% of the guys in my old unit) and I even hit the max a couple of times.

It took a lot out of me, and I felt like I was going to die afterwords, but it is doable. Depends on how bad you want each one.

And you won't develop cancer within 3/4 years, or even 10 years. It takes many many many many years (20+ if not more, on average) to develop cancer, and even then, you aren't garunteed to get cancer from smoking.

Smoking doesn't directly cause cancer, IT INCREASES THE CHANCES OF GETTING CANCER(I was yelling at the b1ff idiot)
