I dont know what the confidentiality laws are like where you live, but it is doubtful your physician would prescribe sleeping pills to a minor without informing the parent...

You could just call and ask... you dont have to say who you are, just say if I come in to see the doctor would my parents have to be informed...

also if you see your doctor and pay through an insurance plan, they may find out that way...

Just calmly explain to the doctor that you think you need them. Or you could just buy them at a drugstore.

I don't know about in your country but in the U.S. you can get sleeping pills over-the-counter (without a doctor's prescription). However, you have to be careful so that you don't get 'hooked' on them.

'What can I take to get to sleep?'

The thing I've found that works best for me is simply Melatonin - 5 mg (melatonin is a natural hormone in the human body). One tablet when I go to bed and I sleep for 6 to 8 hours. Although I get mine online from www.puritan.com..., I believe they are readily available from your local vitamin or health food store.

As with any medication or nutritional supplement, I'd advise you to check with your local doctor or pharmacist to see if they are okay for you -- especially if you are taking any other medications.

mel·a·to·nin (mĕl'ə-tō'nĭn)
n.

A hormone derived from serotonin and produced by the pineal gland that stimulates color change in the epidermis of amphibians and reptiles and plays a role in sleep, aging, and reproduction in mammals.
