Is it good to start reducing my sleep time?

Bombardment! Asked by optex about 1 year ago, 2 answers.

Hi. I know this sounds a bit weird, but I usually sleep 7-10 hours a day. When I go to school (I'm between semesters now) I make it with 5 hours of sleep every day, and I never sleep more than that in weekends either.
I was wondering, is it a good idea...

to start reducing my sleep time from 8 hours to 5-6 hours a night, so I can get used to it ? I know that this will have some effect in the long term, but what if I constantly train (muscles and cardio) ?
thank you

I know that at times when my situation required it I got along on less sleep. My worst semester in college I had nearly 8-5 classes. Then I had a couple hours for dinner and studying, then I worked until midnight. Then when I got home from that I practiced trombone until 3 or 4 in the morning. I got by but I did sleep in on weekends.

Anyway, if you are doing physical conditioning you will be far more successful with more sleep. You don't build muslce when you work out; you build muscle when you recover. The more physical rest you get the more successful your training regimin will be.
