A couple things can throw your schedule off balance.
A lot of people like to eat late night snacks. However, this generally tends to keep people awake especially if the food is spicy, high in caffeine, or full of carbs. You should avoid eating anything really close (within 3 hours) to when you go to bed.
You should also keep your room as a place your mind associates with sleep. If you have couches and TVs and computers everywhere in addition to your bed, you'll be distracted. Sometimes it's not practical to take TVs or computers out of your room, but the less clutter you have in there and the more inviting it is to sleep, the more likely you'll fall asleep.
In line with that, also use your bed ONLY for sleeping. This means not sitting on it to watch TV, eat, etc.
You can also try to recondition your mind to recognize the bed as a place for sleeping. If you go to bed and find yourself awake, go to another room until you're sleepy. This way, when you go to bed, your mind will recognize it for that purpose instead of associating it with wakefulness.
If you nap a lot, this can throw off your internal clock. You can reset that internal clock by waking up and going to bed at the same time every night/day. Even on weekends.
You might also want to try doing something that helps you wind down before you go to bed. If you like to read, for example.
If those tips don't help you, perhaps talking to a doctor could help.
You might have to talk to a doctor. The most I can reccomend is stop using any type of digital device 2 hours before going to bed, and don't listen to music while in bed or watch tv or look at your alarm clock. Read a book for a little while after getting into bed, and make sure you're not hungry before hitting the sack.
