I would recommend, finishing up first. This would alleviate any complications or issues in becoming readjusted have to transfer schools.

The requirements for the New York education system are going to be a little different and if you are going to live in the city then it is hard to get a really decent education. Not to mention the adjustment to all the new faces and the different New York segregation of people. New York has the most visual segregation of races, ethnicities, and cultures. Yet I like the way that works there better than the false sense of integrated society here in Cali. There are tons of cool things to do in New York too, but they require loads of money and free time.

My advice would be to stay in Texas until you are finished with High School. This is only a small step towards survival on your own. The cost of living in New York compared to Texas is like comparing Beverley Hills to Fargo. I worked two jobs there making around 60k a year and my wife added around 35k to that with a full and part-time job. We still had to figure ways out to pay our bills and try to live well. It isn't much easier here in the Bay Area. I would try to visit New York and only move there on the guarantee of a high paying job or a good college.
