No. I would prefer the school year to stay as it is.
I believe that education would not change one way or the other. If the school year was made longer, I believe the teachers would just take more time out for just one subject instead of moving along. So in my opinion I just think it would be a waste of time. If people want more school, they should go to summer school. They shouldn't make people who do well in school deal with longer school years. It's not like it will make them any smarter. At the end of the year, before summer, I stop trying. So if someone were to make the school year last even longer, I probably will just flunk out. Because I can't concentrate in the summer months. And I can point out like hundreds of people who agree with me.
So, yeah I would completely hate it if Obama extended the school year. Grr he better not.

I agree whit zimmizimmizoomzoom. The only thing that the teachers would do is extend the lessons and we would just be learning slower.
See and studing in a longer year just makes students more tired and then they loose the intisuasim to learn. I think that everything is fine and stable the way it is!

The educational field should be redesigned not extended. Students' interest should be taken into account. We are not cookie cutter people, so students should not receive cookie cutter education. Extending the day will not increase student learning.

first of all dance818 you are completly wrong!

im from sweden and I recently moved to the US and our schooldays in sweden are shorter than yours and we start summer vacation in early june, and start school again in the end of August/ early sept. which gives the people in sweden a longer summer break than what I had this year in the US.
plus! we have more breaks during the school year:
fall break is this week, then we have sport vacation that is also a week long where everyone gets out of school and they usually go up north with their families to go skiing.
sweden is ranked in the top 5 countries of best educated in the world and we do not go to school for a longer period of time, sorry
