Should the guards have been armed ?

Reference the recent Mall shooting in Omaha that killed 8 - the Mall Security Guards were not carrying guns - Should these Guards have been carrying guns, yes or no and why ?

In the UK and France the guards don't carry guns but people don't get shot in malls.

As the Americans say, go figure...

Let's hope that UK and France immunity continues.

in the uk it is illegal to bear arms, so the police do not carry them, however in america isnt a different case? arent citizens allowed to carry guns if in the right casing?

A criminal will carry a weapon anywhere/anytime, legally or illegally - a licensed/qualified American citizen may carry a concealed weapon (concealed weapon permit), yes.

The first gun banning laws, in the world, were in the UK, more than 700 years ago.

Perhaps they had a clue about where all this was headed, eh?

I think that guns, in general, should be outlawed. Growing up, we had a few kids lose their lives from accidents & silliness...all of it involving guns.

I don't have any idea why so many people in the U.S are shooting each other but at least we are not the worst country for murders. Here are some of the figures:

Note our neighbor Mexico is ranked 6th and there are approximately 7 million illegal immigrants in United States and Mexicans make up nearly 70 percent of total.
Perhaps that would be another good reason to try preventing illegals from crossing our borders. Of course illegal is still illegal and imo no one should be here illegally.

in good old America people can have guns, this is the right way to do things. think if everyone carried a gun, then there would be less killings. if anyone shoots, everyone around that person will take out their guns and shoot right back

Ha ha, machinehead. That's an old Archie Bunkers solution to stop the high jacking of airplanes. Give every one a gun when they board the plane and no one would dare try to high jack the plane. Sounds good but I don't think it'll ever happen in the good ole U.S. Florida might be an interesting experiment. They've passed a law allowing anyone to carry a gun on their person but I believe they need a permit. If I'm wrong on this please correct me.

I can tell you that as a CHL holder there have been times that a gun has saved life. I can also tell you that if a criminal wants to get a firearm to murder somebody the law won't stop him and fact is, they like they're victims to be unarmed. I hope to never need to shoot somebody. I know that if it ever comes down to that though, I have been trained and tested so that I do so within the law. If you think that guns are evil then you are looking with pure emotion. The gun can't think, it can't feel and has no will. Therefore it can not be evil. The evil lies in the person wrongfully using it. Sometimes it's also a lack of training that can cause a problem. Most so than that, it a person who is afraid of the gun that gets theirself in trouble. The guards should be armed as should all freedom loving civilians. It's widely known that freemen are armed, subjects and slaves are not. It was guns that were used to run the tyrants out of this country in the 1770's and should the need ever arise again, they will help to keep freedoms stand.
