I found your answer very interesting so I did some more research on it. it's true... platinum is naturally white but gold obviously isn't... so 'white' gold is simply plated with other metals to make it appear white. but over time the plating will wear off, making the band appear more yellow. so white gold bands often need to be replated. platinum is definitely the way to go. thanks for the help!
