Should I wait for him?

I met this guy last year. we have always firted with each other and liked each other but it has never been the right time to get into a realtionship. afew weeks ago I sopke to him about it and he said nuthing can happen now but expects something to in the future. he made me feel like he could just use me but I really like him and I don't no if I should wait for him. he's slao one of my closest friends and I don't want to screw up our friendship. HELP

friends I'd choose because nothing lasts for ever because at one point things will end
and even if you guys stay friends there will be a AKWARD level but then again
you should follow your heart.

one way to know is to ask him "should I wait for you?""should I move on?"
you know, stuff like that, but here's the catch, it might make things awkward for y'all
or you can try getting closer to him, you can call him more, hang out with him more, text him, stuff like do things that will draw you two closer
