Being depressed is a mental and personal issue, a good idea to at least try out is meditating on the value of life, and only think about the beauty it can bring you if you assert yourself and take advantage of it.
Try studying a new religion and see if it inspires you. Try martial arts, it helps me figure out what I want.
I don't agree with drugs since all people can use their own will power to obtain their own happiness. Another thing you can do is study new cultures, things that are interesting always work pretty good.
Good luck.
I took them once and they just made me more depressed. It might be worth a try, though.
Personally I don't approve of drugs at all and I dislike zolfot if I were to recommend a anti-depressent I would probably go with prozac. I don't think anti depressiants are the way to go why not try alternative methods like meditating or tanning. I think it is a personal choice and when it comes down to it you have to decide whats really going to be best for you. Anyways good luck
Ok im sorry, but will power to obtain happiness? like people who are unhappy are just weak, or want to be unhappy? who wants to be unhappy? who sits there thinking, well maybe I should be unhappy...
I personally hate medication... I know I should be on it, but I refuse...
So I get it when people dont want to be on medication, and think that they can deal on their own. And sometimes you can. And sometimes you cant...
There is no shame in taking antidepressants, and I think that's the problem. Society has taught us to 'just snap out of it' but problem is, it's not that simple. There are actual medical problems, and just like you cant snap out of an infection, sometimes you cant snap out of depression... even if society tells you that you should be able to, and taking medication for a problem you've 'invented' is 'weak', sometimes there is a physical problem and medication can help...
I dont know whether medication can help you or not, or which medication is the most helpful (I think this is a trial and error type of thing), but it is something you have to figure out for yourself... at the end of the day I guess you have to balance out what you may lose to what you might gain...
I had the same question. life throws hard balls sometimes.. and you need help. I was scared to go on medication thinking it would make it worse. I was on lexapro for about four - five months. I recently switched to paxil; it has helped with mood swings, anxiety, and sleeping. eating healthy and excercising can deffinatly help. if you do decide to get on any anti depressants, make sure to keep your visits to your doctor regular. hope this helped.

Should I take anti-depressants?
Send me Fun Mail
I am depressed, my therapist told me I need to get on something quick.
I've taken zoloft before and I didn't feel any better. but when I got off of it, I went manic for a little while, kinda like a drug addict...
I've managed so far without for the last 5 years, but recent events have thrown me very far... should I try to manage without?
