pitaime shut up!
I think thats really sweet that you care about this and your making an effort. I think its a good idea
Right that on a piece of paper and leave it where he will find it when your not around so he has time to think
you should give the poem to him. I think it would be quite moving and even if it isnt, at least you tried.
that depends. if you show this poem to your dad when he is grumpy or drunk, your dad's love for drugs will not change; it will just make him angry at u. instead, you should wait patiently for a 'perfect time' to show your dad this poem. a 'perfect time' will be when he is very happy, or when he says 'I love u' to u. it's a risk, but the reward will be wonderful. if your dad is always grumpy, take him to an amusement park or simply a peaceful place. I hope this works!!
It's a really nice poem, well done.
I think you should show it to your dad when he is sober probably reading it to him will be better. Tell him what inspired you to write it and how strongly you feel about it. It could change your lives.
Be strong and take care.
yes it is a great idea. giving it to him at the right time will help a lot to. great idea katie77. and if I were you I wouldnt shorten it at all. its great. I wish you tons of luck and I will pray for you.

yes but leve somewhere he will see it but also like pitaime said shorten it
Definitely give him the poem.I would read it again and have it checked over by a teacher or educated person who is good with grammar and spelling. There are quite a mistakes in there.
Give him the poem, but do it because you want to say something and you want him to read it. Do not expect it to magically change anything. It probably won't. I wish it would, honey--but drugs are all encompassing powerful to users--even over the love of their own children.
I think it's a wonderful way for you to express your understanding of him and your willingness to forgive. Good job. Just please keep in mind that you're only giving this to him to share your feelings. Keep your expectations low, at best.
you should give it to him your trying to tell him smething important and that poem is very very LONG
'Risk, Risk, Risk, Reward, Reward, Reward'the bigger the risk the bigger the reward! take some of the advice on here its good!
my daddy is lil wayne he does drugs get over it
yes you should.. my dad was an alcoholic and he only quit when I got diagnosed with cancer. so I know what your going through. my dad died when I was 14 and I wish I had done something like this for him.
good luck
I read that and it touched my heart. How old are you? those have been my words for years...I lost my dad to alcoholism. I would be glad to share my advice to you. I say give it a shot. You need to let him know how you feel...and if he doesnt take it in, like mine didnt...I know how much that hurts...hang in there, and know that you will never be like that person that he has become, and know that you gave it your all. you are so strong just for putting these words on paper, let alone showing them to him. you hang in there and stay strong hun.
oh and that person pitaime I'm sorry but stay out of this if you have not been in the situation before because what you said is soo rude, hurtful and not true. Her father needs to hear everyword she wrote on there. Those are her words, and it's his job to listen as her father. what you said as an answer was beyond rude and hurtful.
yah you should show him the poem I wsh I would have done that for my dad to he died from being a alcoholic... but yah I would show him. its better now than never. if you dont he might overdose or something bad could happen at any time you never know. and you will feel real bad that if you had all that time to save him and you put it off. but I say leave the poem like it is it aint that long. I just think some people are just to lazy to read the whole thing!!! but anyways good luck
well you should ask yourself that question do watz rite
What a lovely poem you should def show him
u should leav it on the table where he will find it, when he is not stoned drunck or has a hangover from ither drink or druggs, leave another note saying where you are and go out to your local park 4 about an hour.
it should really hit home then, and dont forget to tell him where you r, or he will be so mad when you get back, hell forget the poem.

Should I show my dad this poem?
Send me Fun Mail
My dad is a big time alcoholic. Should I show him this?
Dad I really love you,
And that’s coming from the heart.
But I’ve kept this inside way to long,
you’ve torn my world apart!
Drugs have ruled your actions
And they’re ruining your life’
You’re missing the satisfaction
Of a wonderful god willed life.
You’re missing the beauty life holds for you
And I wish that you would see
You’re missing the only chance you’ll have
To be a role model dad for me.
Through all the pain I've grown stronger
And also a little wise.
You’ve put me through a lot
For a girl my size.
I know inside its painful,
And it must be really hard.
To act like you’ve got it all together,
You could win an academy award.
You blame other people
For the mishaps that you’ve known
You always make excuses
Why we cant be alone.
Its only a simple drug test
Thrers really no alarm
To make sure your heads clear
So you can keep me from harm
Going to the courthouse
Is just a little ride
It shouldn’t be a problem
If you’ve nothing to hide
Your not fooling me,
Or anyone else, maybe your mom
You’d be able to see all this
If your really got honest wit Thom
The reason for the drug test
Is to show that your drug fee
And the reward you get for passing it
Is to be with me.
My friends don’t understand ,
How you can be this way,
They ask why you choose drugs over me
And this is what I say.
I tell them you have a disease
And that you’re really sick.
If It wasn’t for the illness ,
Id be the one you pick.
I tell them its really powerful,
And you can no longer feel-
The same feelings we all do-
You cant tell wait is real.
I explain it affects those close to you
And messes with your head
And those who chose not to get help
Usually end up dead.
Some people get help sooner
And start to get well
But some just don’t get it
And live a life of hell.
They loose sight of what life’s all about
Their priorities are misplaced
They numb their minds and bodies
To everyday problems we all face.
They’re accountable to no one
An soon they stop growing
They always hurt the ones they love
And money they end up blowing.
They think there entitled
To everything they desire.
And by all those around them
They want to be admired.
Those that don’t admire them,
Are usually the ones that blame
Its usually the ones that want them to get help
isn’t that a shame?!?!
They act like everything’s okay
And there’s nothing to hide.
They become afraid to ask for help
This is called false pride.
They their selves to all the wounds
Inflicted on the ones that care.
And all the secrets they hold inside
Become a heavy cross to bear.
The cross gets heavier and heavier
Until they can no longer stand
With chemicals they numb the pain
Rather than asking for a hand.
It’s a dieses and there’s no cure
Were powerless you see
But god can lift that cross for sure
And make them the people they long to be
We don’t always know gods will
And wonder off the track
We forgot how great life can be
Through others god can lead us back
This maybe a little selfish
And im think way ahead
But one day I may need your guidance
Can you help me if your dead?
I’m still quit young and the time may come
When I might choose the wrong road.
God may need to work through you
To help me carry my load.
I may need help getting back
To the pathway to heaven above
So if your already on that path
You can lead me to gods love
I an here to help you
And I wanted to say
I wont enable you anymore
By acting like its ok
I want a real dad
One that’s drug free
But I realize you cant do it,
Just for me.
I know you think you love me,
But to our hearts we must be true
Your incapable of loving anyone
Until you first love you!
You don’t have to hurt the ones you love
You don’t have to take you can give
You can be honest trustworthy and pure
And have a wonderful life to live.
You know I love you dad
Love becomes from the heart
But respect is something you must earn
Now is a good start.
I’m not going to beg
I’m not going to plea
But think how great your life could be
You could spend it with me.
I was scared you wouldn’t love me
If I said what I said
But ill take the chance and say it now
Rather than risk you being dead
Dad I really love you
And that’s coming from the heart
But I've kept this inside way too long
Now I've said my part,
